Changing of the guard in Michigan "Right to Work"

In my previous post (January 28) about R2W legislation introduced in the Michigan legislature, I had pointed out that the members of the state legislature that were introducing the bill had significant anti-worker voting records in the past. Notably, Jase Bolger, who is the Speaker of the House, and 4 of the 7 members introducing R2W had all voted AGAINST increasing the minimum wage, and AGAINST a program called Hire Michigan First!, which required that 90% of the workforce of any contracted labor paid for with state money must hire locally.

Recently Democrats in the Michigan House started pushing 12 separate bills involving Hire Michigan First! proposals, which would have put these members in a very odd situation of opposing Hire Michigan First while pushing Right to Work.

Now the GOP is changing it up by putting Rep Proos at the helm of R2W. He, oddly enough, voted in support of Hire Michigan First and for increasing the minimum wage.

More to come on this, for sure......
